What is a Family Practitioner?

Like a pediatrician or an internist, a Family Practitioner is a specialist. After medical school and obtaining an M.D., the Family Practitioner spends three years in a Residency Program. Training is obtained in pediatrics, internal medicine, psychiatry, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and family medicine. Family Practice is medical care for the individual within the family and community setting. The goal is to treat all patients—men, women, and children—with confidentiality and respect.

The Family Practitioner offers continuing and comprehensive care to every member of your family. You will be treated when sick and taught preventive medicine to help keep you well. Complete medical care is provided from birth through old age.
